Our Activities
NSBR Foundation undertakes a range of research, conservation, restoration, and community-based initiatives aimed at protecting coastal and marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable development. Our activities include mangrove biodiversity assessment, through which we document and monitor mangrove vegetation and associated flora and fauna to understand ecosystem diversity, health, and ecological functions; microbial assessment, focusing on microorganisms in mangrove sediments, water, and root environments to understand their roles in nutrient cycling, decomposition, carbon transformation, and ecosystem functioning; and mangrove restoration, involving site assessment, nursery development, species selection, planting, survival monitoring, and long-term ecological management to restore degraded coastal habitats, enhance biodiversity, strengthen coastal resilience, and support blue carbon ecosystems. We also promote seagrass and coastal habitat conservation, marine biodiversity assessment, environmental monitoring, and scientific research to generate knowledge that supports evidence-based conservation and sustainable management. In addition, our women’s empowerment and community development programmes aim to strengthen the participation of women and local communities in conservation through environmental education, capacity building, skill development, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and active involvement in ecosystem restoration and natural resource management. Through these integrated activities, NSBR Foundation seeks to connect scientific research, ecological restoration, community participation, and sustainable livelihoods to build healthier coastal ecosystems and resilient communities for present and future generations.
